Privacy policy

Updated:

NoMark is open to everyone without an account. This policy explains what stays in your browser, what is sent to the server, and how to delete your history.

Processing in your browser

In this website's normal flow, pasted text and TXT, Markdown, HTML, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, ODT, EPUB, and supported image, audio, and video files are inspected and cleaned in a Web Worker in your browser. That flow does not upload their contents or filenames. Your browser downloads the engine and application assets as needed; asset requests still disclose connection information such as an IP address to the site's infrastructure.

If the local engine fails, NoMark displays an error and does not automatically send that content to the server. You can cancel local processing. PDFs use the server flow described below.

PDF processing on the server

A PDF is uploaded only after you select it, allow PDF uploads, and press Clean. Its contents and filename are sent to the server to inspect and clean metadata. PDF processing does not perform OCR or rewrite the document's text. Your browser receives the result and report to save or download.

Before uploading, your browser requests a random queue ticket. The queue holds tickets and expiration times in server memory; file contents stay on your device while waiting. The server admits up to two simultaneous jobs and eight waiting tickets. Uploads are limited to 30 seconds and server processing to 60 seconds.

Working copies are placed in a temporary directory and deleted when a job finishes, fails, or is cancelled. Directories left by an interrupted process are cleaned after about five minutes while the application is running. In the supplied Docker configuration, this directory uses memory-backed temporary storage. User files are not placed in S3, public buckets, or CDN caches.

Storage on your device

IndexedDB automatically saves history, including original text, original files, results, reports, and timestamps. History is limited to 20 entries or 100 MiB; the oldest entries are removed when the limit is reached. Use Delete on an entry or Clear all history to remove it. You can also clear site data in your browser settings.

localStorage stores language and theme preferences. The theme follows your system until you choose light or dark. History does not sync across devices. Your browser may clear local storage, and private browsing may restrict it. Do not treat history as your only backup or use shared devices for private content.

Connection data and capacity protection

The server reads the IP address and request information needed to deliver responses and limit abuse. The application uses a temporary hash of the IP address for a 60-second request window; old entries are removed on subsequent requests or a process restart. The application does not log uploaded contents, pasted text, or your local history.

Network, hosting, and proxy providers delivering the site may process connection information under their own settings. NoMark includes no analytics, advertising pixels, or processing scripts loaded from third-party hosts. Local-engine assets are served from the site's origin and may be cached by your browser; asset caches do not contain the content you clean.

API and direct use

This policy does not treat every API request as local processing. If you or an integration call a server-processing endpoint directly, the request's content is sent to the server and follows the server's limits and temporary-file cleanup. The regular website uses local processing for formats other than PDF.

Purpose and sharing

NoMark processes content to provide the results you request. The application does not sell content, use it to train AI models, or send it to AI model providers. It has no authentication cookies because no account is required. Submit only content you are allowed to process, and use an HTTPS connection for private documents.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can decline PDF uploads, cancel waiting or active processing, delete history, and clear the site's browser data. The operator cannot remotely delete history held in your browser. For questions about data sent to the server or a privacy request, contact us below. Further information will only be requested when needed to understand and address your request.

Policy changes

Changes to data flows will be accompanied by an updated policy and date on this page. This policy does not reduce rights provided by applicable law.
